The Government of Barbados considers that the movement of persons by air and sea is key to the development of its economy. The Government has previously held significant shareholding in regional airlines. Following the crises of 2020, regional airlines suspended services and those which have resumed have limited schedules. The Government seeks to encourage support and promote regional air service by investing its resources whether financial or otherwise, in viable carriers willing to provide sustainable affordable and reliable service.
BAASeC is therefore at the forefront of stimulating the growth of air service in Barbados by encouraging and supporting viable carriers to provide sustainable, affordable and reliable services. We are focused on collaborating with a diverse range of local stakeholders to create a synergistic environment that harnesses the power of these varied stakeholders’ collective expertise to pioneer a comprehensive, research driven, stakeholder engagement approach that attracts both commercial and private aviation to Barbados.
