August 19th – 23rd 2024,  BAASeC and UWI Sagicor Cave Hill School of Business jointly hosted a week long experience to introduce students to the aviation industry entitled: “TAKING TO THE SKIES: AN INTRODUCTION TO AVIATION FOR SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS”.

The immersive and comprehensive experience introduced school leavers and those on the cusp of leaving school (ages 14-17) to the exciting world of aviation. It featured a series of talks from industry professionals, tours and interactive activities. Primary focus was on stimulating the budding interest of aspiring aviation professionals and exposing them to a wide cross section of career options available in the aviation industry.  

Key objectives included:

  • Introducing students with interest in aviation to the industry and its socio-economic importance.
  • Educating students on the diverse range of careers available.
  • Providing first hand exposure to aviation environments through field trips.
  • Equipping students with essential personal and professional development skills to succeed in the world of work.
